Part II: Opportunity

This is the twenty-first century. We all know that, in any country of this world, most people live in large cities. These same cities continue to expand since many people from the same country, from neighbouring countries and even from very distant countries settle in these capitals to spend the rest of their lives. The children of these same people are very likely to have to leave the "big" city of their parents and move to an even bigger one. We can't imagine what could stop or even slowdown this trend, this is the way of progress. And the movement is not only limited to our old earth.

It is almost fourty years since Man landed on moon and the rover Opportunity is currently exploring Mars, we might have a hard time imagining people going back to live in small villages or communities scattered in a picturesque countryside (as we like to imagine our ancestors' environment) but it is easy for us to picture ourselves or the next generation taking a trip to another planet and live there on a temporary or permanent basis.

We can cover long distances without any effort while chatting to someone on the other side of earth. We can view and joke with friends abroad while enjoying the domestic comforts of our homes. It really looks like distances and barriers no longer exist; permanence seems to be a thing of the past.
